Spare house keys, high-security keys, restricted keyway copies and padlock keys cut by a trained locksmith on a precision machine — not a kiosk that guesses at the cut depth. Walk into our Orlando shop or book mobile key duplication anywhere in the metro.
Key Copy Orlando cuts accurate key duplicates for homes, apartments and rental properties across the metro — standard house keys, high-security keys, restricted keyway systems, mailbox keys and padlock keys. Every copy is test-fit in the actual lock before you leave, not just visually matched to the original. Vehicle keys and transponders are handled separately on our automotive key duplication page.
Key duplication is cutting a new key blank to match the bitting pattern — the pattern of cuts and depths — of an existing working key, so the copy operates the same lock. A locksmith identifies the correct blank for the keyway, reads the original key's cuts on a precision machine, and cuts a matching copy, then tests it in the lock before handing it over. Restricted and high-security keys often require the locksmith to verify authorization before cutting, since the blanks themselves are controlled.
Key duplication terms, in plain English — tap a term
Key blank
An uncut key matching the shape of a specific keyway. The right blank has to match your lock brand and keyway exactly, or the cut key will not turn — this is where kiosk machines most often get it wrong.
Bitting
The specific pattern and depth of cuts along a key that lines up with the pins inside the lock. Reading the bitting accurately off the original — not eyeballing it — is what makes a copy actually work.
Restricted keyway
A keyway whose blanks are controlled and only cut by authorized locksmiths, often requiring ID or property authorization before duplication. Common on apartment master systems and high-security residential locks.
Master key copy
Duplicating a key that operates a master key system requires matching both the individual lock's bitting and the shared master cuts precisely — a mismatch on either locks you out entirely.
Code cutting
Cutting a key from a manufacturer's key code rather than from an original key in hand — useful when you have a lock but no working key to copy from.

Standard, high-security, or restricted keyway — we confirm the correct blank and, for restricted systems, verify authorization before cutting.
03
The bitting is read directly off your original key and cut into the new blank on calibrated equipment, not eyeballed against a template.
04
Whenever the lock is available, we test the new copy in it before you leave — not just a visual match against the original.

Need three copies instead of one, or a spare for the mailbox too? We cut everything you need in the same visit.

01
A quick, accurate copy for anyone who needs regular access — cut and test-fit while you wait, most under 5 minutes.
02
Landlords and property managers get multiple accurate copies cut for maintenance staff, cleaners, and new tenants in one visit.
03
Short-term rental owners often need several sets cut quickly between guest turnovers — we can batch-cut a full set the same day.
04
Restricted keys need an authorized locksmith with the correct controlled blank — not every hardware store can legally cut these.
05
If there's no spare to copy from, cutting a fresh key isn't possible — the fix is rekeying the lock to a brand-new key instead.

Smaller hardware around the property gets the same precision-cut treatment as your house key — no more keys that almost work.

Orlando's position near the theme parks makes it one of the largest short-term and vacation-rental markets in Florida, and that business runs on keys — cleaning crews, maintenance contractors, property managers, and guests all cycling through the same properties. Owners often need a full set of accurate copies cut quickly between bookings, and a mismatched or slightly-off kiosk copy that jams a lock mid-turnover is a real cost, not a minor inconvenience.
Restricted and high-security keyways are also more common here than a lot of markets realize — gated communities in Lake Nona and Baldwin Park, and many apartment complexes citywide, run controlled key systems that a hardware store kiosk simply cannot legally duplicate. We carry the authorized blanks and verify authorization on those systems as part of the job.
A key that's copied slightly wrong doesn't announce itself until it jams the lock — we test-fit every copy so you find out here, not at the door.
Cost depends on the key type — standard blanks are inexpensive, restricted and high-security keyways cost more for the controlled blank and extra verification. Your exact price is confirmed before we cut.

A locksmith reads the bitting on a precision machine and test-fits the copy in an actual lock when possible. Kiosk machines rely on a visual scan and cannot always identify the correct blank, especially on high-security or restricted keyways — a common source of copies that almost, but do not quite, work.
Yes, provided we can verify you are authorized to have a copy made — restricted keyway blanks are controlled for that reason. We carry authorized blanks for the major high-security brands and can verify authorization on the spot in most cases.
Both. Walk into our Orlando shop with the original key for the fastest service, or book a mobile visit and we'll cut copies at your property — useful for cutting multiple keys for a rental or a larger household.
If you have a working lock but no key, we can sometimes code-cut from the lock or manufacturer code. If there is no key and no code available, the fix is rekeying the lock to a brand-new key instead.
Most standard key copies take under 5 minutes, including test-fitting. High-security and restricted keyway copies may take a few minutes longer due to the extra verification step.
Vehicle keys with embedded transponder chips need programming, not just cutting — that's covered on our automotive key duplication page.

"Had four sets cut for our vacation rental near Kissimmee — every one tested in the lock before I left. First place that's ever bothered to check instead of just handing over a copy and hoping."
"Our building runs a restricted keyway and the hardware store kiosk flat out couldn't help. Key Copy Orlando verified my lease and cut an authorized copy in a few minutes."
"Needed a spare for my mom and a high-security key for the side gate on the same trip. Both done fast, both actually work — no going back to fix a bad copy like last time."
